Toledo Acupuncture
How Acupuncture can complement the chiropractic care you receive in our Toledo office.

Acupuncture is often used in conjunction with chiropractic care. Many health problems can be caused by disruption to energy pathways in your body known as meridians. This ancient healing technique shifts the energy pathways within the body, resulting in improvement of many specific conditions.
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a technique of stimulating specific points along specific known pathways (called Meridians), altering the biochemical and physiological state of the patient, and promoting healing.
What about the use of Needles? Will they hurt? Are they sterile??
It is the most common question we get is about the needles we use. What comes immediately to mind for most people a memory of a vaccination or giving blood, or perhaps a sewing needle! Both those types of needles are huge in comparison to acupuncture needles. Did you know five acupuncture needles could fit inside hypodermic needle, or through the eye of many sewing needles?
Feels Great!
Whatever your preconception of needles, when inserted into specific energy points (called Meridian points) on your body, these ultra-fine, sterile needles leave some people noting a feeling like a like a mosquito bite, while others report no feeling, or a wave of calmness. When there is discomfort, it is usually created by anxiety, not needles!
How Does Acupuncture work?
No one knows for exactly. We just know it is effective. Many think about acupuncture's results by imagining rivers of energy throughout your body, organized by meridians. These meridians can sometimes experience a “log jam” and energy flow is restricted. The needles help loosen the logjam and allow energy to circulate properly.
Acupuncture sessions may take up to 15-30 minutes. Most people experience a variety of post-session feelings, which range from energized to a deep sense of relaxation and well-being.
